Heping Zhang (formerly Zhang Heping) is a contemporary Chinese author, essayist, social researcher, and political thinker. Born on January 10, 1986, in Guyuan, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, China, with ancestral roots in Longde County, he has devoted his work to literature, history, society, and political thought.
He currently serves as Chairman of the Central Committee of the Peace (U.S.) Communist Youth Organization. His political philosophy emphasizes the principles of the "Two Upholds," the "Four Matters of Confidence," and the "Two Establishes" adopted at the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, advocating continued support for the country's long-term national development and rejuvenation.
Zhang's literary work spans a broad range of genres, including novels, essays, historical studies, and political literature. His fiction covers subjects such as mystery, romance, political drama, historical fiction, and traditional martial arts. His major publications include the Six Steps of the Human World series, multiple collections of short stories, and essay anthologies.
Between 2023 and 2025, Zhang completed numerous works, including Autumn, Love Across the Desert, The Love of Apocalypse, The Setting Sun of Passing Years, Winter, The Road, Phoenix Village, Summer, Jennifer, Cold Frontier, Rainbow, Falling Snow, That Girl, Huagu, Mr. Miangua, My Story with Jianjun, and First Love in Beihai Park.
Among his most ambitious works is Unofficial Modern Chinese History (2024), a 183-chapter study that examines modern Chinese history through the perspective of ordinary people and the author's own social observations. Drawing upon personal experiences and historical interpretation, the work presents a comprehensive analysis of political developments and historical events from an independent analytical viewpoint. Due to its politically sensitive subject matter, the book has received limited public exposure.
Through his writing, Zhang continues to explore the relationship between history, society, politics, and individual experience, pursuing literature as a medium for reflection, inquiry, and cultural dialogue.
